The Smile Company – Terms & Conditions
1. Right to Refuse Treatment
The Smile Company reserves the right to refuse treatment to any patient at our discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, cases where patient conduct is abusive, inappropriate, or where treatment is deemed clinically unnecessary or unsafe.
2. Payment Policy
Patients are personally responsible for the full payment of all treatment fees at the time of service, regardless of medical aid membership or benefits.
The Smile Company charges over and above medical aid rates, and patients are responsible for settling any shortfall not covered by their medical aid.
Patients are encouraged to check their medical aid benefits prior to treatment. All medical aid claims are submitted on behalf of the patient, with the expectation that payment will be made directly by the medical aid provider. In the event that a claim is reversed or not paid by the medical aid for any reason, the patient remains responsible for settling the account in full.
Any outstanding balances due to The Smile Company must be paid in full by the patient. Should legal action be required to recover unpaid fees, any legal costs incurred will be the responsibility of the patient.
3. Refund Policy
We do not issue refunds on any treatment, including consultations, once services have been rendered. This applies to all clinical, laboratory, and aesthetic work performed at the practice.
4. Deposits for Lab and Aesthetic Work
A deposit is required for all treatment involving laboratory work (e.g. crowns, dentures, veneers) or aesthetic procedures. No work will be initiated until the required deposit has been paid.
5. Cancellations & Missed Appointments
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Cancellations made within 24 hours, or failure to attend your appointment without prior notice, will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to the current consultation fee.
6. Waiting Times
While we strive to run on time, dentistry can be unpredictable. There may be a waiting period beyond your scheduled appointment time. We appreciate your patience and assure you that you will receive the same level of care and attention as every other patient.
7. Disclosure of Medical Information
It is your responsibility to fully disclose all medical conditions, allergies, medications, and relevant health information to your treating practitioner. Failure to do so may impact your treatment and safety.
8. Informed Consent
Before any procedure, you will be informed of the diagnosis, treatment options, risks, benefits, and costs. By proceeding with treatment, you confirm your understanding and consent to the planned procedures.
9. Minors
Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Consent for treatment must be provided by the guardian in writing or in person.
